History

Through the generosity of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter, the cornerstone for Royal Arch Memorial Hospital was laid in 1914, thus providing Mason Point with a modern day hospital/infirmary with accommodations for up to fifty patients. The hospital dedication took place on July 5, 1915, with over 5,000 Master Masons making pilgrimage to the Home for this momentous occasion. In 1985 the Royal Arch Memorial Hospital was remodeled to adequately meet the needs of individuals needing 24 hour nursing care.

In 1915, not long after the completion of the Royal Arch Hospital, Edwin C. Swain, a brother-in-law of Robert Miller, saw fit to give 200 acres of land which adjoined the Home. Since Mr. Swain was not a member of the Fraternity, he enlisted the aid of Brother William Irving Shuman. Mr. Swain deeded the land to Mr. Shuman, who in turn deeded the land to the Grand Lodge.
