History

It did not take long to realize that one building was not adequate to meet the needs of such a large influx of needy individuals. In 1907 the cornerstone for a second building, known today as the Robert A. Miller Apartments, was laid. With its completion in 1908, the offices, dining room, kitchen and Administrator's quarters were relocated to the first floor of this building. The second floor was designated for residential quarters. The basement of this building was originally used as the first area for providing nursing care for the residents. At the same time this building was erected, a separate heating and powerhouse was built. The Administration building was remodeled in 1979 to accommodate married couples making admission under the Life Care Program. Today, it houses 12 independent apartment living units.
